Hi, I'm John.

I'm the owner of Paint & Paper, an independent decorating business based in Bristol. After spending more than 30 years leading businesses and managing customer projects, I decided to return to something more hands-on—creating beautifully finished spaces that people genuinely enjoy living and working in.

I believe decorating should be about much more than simply applying paint. It starts with understanding how you use your home, choosing the right products for the space, and carrying out careful preparation that delivers a finish built to last. That's why I never rush the groundwork. The quality of the preparation is what determines the quality of the result.

My approach combines traditional craftsmanship with modern, environmentally responsible practices. Wherever possible I use low-VOC and sustainable decorating products, minimise waste, recycle responsibly, and recommend materials that are healthier for both your home and the environment. My aim is simple: beautiful finishes that don't compromise indoor air quality or the planet.

Whether I'm refreshing a single room, hanging feature wallpaper, restoring tired woodwork or transforming the exterior of a property, every project receives the same level of care, attention to detail and respect for your home. I turn up when I say I will, communicate clearly throughout the project, and leave your property clean and tidy at the end of each day.
